In all fairness I think power scooters are more annoying than walkers because they move so slowly and they block you in aisles at stores. Sometimes I just wanna shoot them in the friggin' head and end their terrible lives and remove that burden from society.
I like your illustration of the all-to-often occurrence of the person with the big machine belittling/harassing the person with the small—or no—machine.
Strangely enough, though… these people do not like receiving the behaviors they transmit. They are, naturally, too self-centered to notice their defects.
People using power scooters use them because they have to use them. Having been to nursing homes to visit people, I can tell you, being in a nursing home is much worse than having to use a power scooter!
It’s not always because they need the power scooter.
I work in a grocery store that has scooters for the use of those who need them. The number of people who walk in with no trouble but then need constant help while they are driving the scooter is incredible. And the complaints in midafternoon about the batteries going dead(they’ve been in constant use since the store opened, of course the batteries are dieing.)
Note: I have no problem catering to ANY requests for help from those who have their own scooters, or those using our scooters that have canes, walkers, or crutches with them.
This is freaking hilarious, I can totally relate. I've had to have several surgeries that leave me unable to walk for up to 10 months at a time, so I've gone from a wheelchair to a walker to crutches and then a cane. By far the cane is the best, especially since I got me a House cane.
A few people where I work have recently gotten canes due to surgery, they all carry around the craptastic one that the doctor gives them. I am saying right here, right now – if I EVER need a cane, I'm going to get the most awesome cane ever. It will probably have a dragon's head, have a sword built in and be made of awesome!
Unfortunately, I've researched having a sword in my cane and it's considered a concealed weapon. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't give me a CCW. Damn.
I've been using a cane now for 3 years, and since I'm in my 20s, I can't stand using that metal thing that the docs call a cane. I've got a driftwood one now (very hippie), but I really need an elegant one, too- ebony with silver? Yes, please. Really. Someone give me one. Now.
I like my walker. It’s lime green
And I dunno about some of the walkers out there, but I’m faster than a wheelchair. All in all though, they’re all useful.
Yup -_- currently stuck using a walker as I relearn to walk, this is far too true. I miss the wheel chair phase, that was awesome… except for steep hills, up or down, they made me cry, lol.
Good point.

Stupid, slow driver. Hope you get cancer.

Love the comic, however I have one amendment to the rule: I got a wheelchair with flames on the side. Deffo cooler than a cane.
@Jaimy/binz2056, you realize there's a "Reply" button stamped next to each comment's post information, right?

You forget the fact adding spikes to the walker makes it 80% more awesome.
