3rd Panel made me lol, and I have done the 3rd one before… every time there was a group assignment in any math class in high school.
Algebro: the newest bro in the brocean.
The answer for any math question (or any question in general) is 42.
Random, you sound like the kind of person that always keeps a towel handy. Can’t be too careful.
Everyone should always know where their towel is.
i did number 4 a few times ;(
So have I. But only after a few beers too many.
Connect Four! I miss that game. Maybe i’ll make ‘computer calculating’ sound effects next time i’m playing..
Ha! Good one!
You’re dating yourself somewhat, Adam: the “BEEP-BOOP-BEEP-BEEP-BOOP-BOOP” computer noises of the second panel may only make sense to people who’ve lived through the 1980′s.
In fact, hearing that “thinking computer” noise makes me nostalgic for the 80′s. I’ve googled for it but I haven’t been able to find a good sample. Anybody know where I can find an audible version of it? (It might be good to let youngsters listen to it, if only so they can understand the reference.)
That’s one of those sounds that kids today don’t hear, like tiktiktiktikdingwhap and that godawful connecting noise of the old modems.
Hey, I still think all computers should beep and talk like the ones in Wargames.
What I want to know is why does a lot of the rest of the world call it “maths?”
Because it’s called MATHematicS.
Adam, you’re onto something. The next craze in matchmaking websites: Algebromance, where male math geeks can fall in love … with each other’s numbers.
@ninlen — Yes, your comment was the seed of this idea, so talk to Adam about your cut if he goes forward.
@LanceThruster — I think it’s because there is more than one math. You know, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, &c. But I just always presumed, since my British and Australian associates always use the term; and ever since I asked why they seem to hate gerunds (“We were all stood in the road …”) and they couldn’t understand the reason I asked, I’ve stopped asking such questions.
This describes every episode of Numb3rs I’ve ever seen. Love that show
Me knowitall you ask I.
