Before anyone asks, The Bruce Willis bug is bald, and in my universe that means you gots no antennae.
Y’know, I never really questioned the “No antennae = bald” thing until now. Wouldn’t that mean the bald bugs are deaf? I really don’t know enough about bugs so…
Last panel has me in stitches. Also, I imagine that Liam Neeson would also be quite intimidating if the situation called for it.
I don’t know. to me it just looks like he’s wearing a “bandit hat”.
Bruce Bug didn’t say “Hey” first. I’m not sure bug’s hear with their antennae…I think they’re just for style points…
I went the opposite way in naming him in my head: Bug Willis
“Olfactory receptors on the antennae bind to free-floating molecules, such as water vapour, and odours including pheromones. The neurons that possess these receptors signal this binding by sending action potentials down their axons to the antennal lobe in the brain. From there, neurons in the antennal lobes connect to mushroom bodies that identify the odour. The sum of the electrical potentials of the antenna to a given odour can be measured using an electroantennogram.
In the case of the Monarch butterfly, it has been shown that antennae are necessary for proper time-compensated solar compass orientation during migration, that antennal clocks exist in monarchs, and that they are likely to provide the primary timing mechanism for Sun compass orientation.”
Soooo, it seems you chopped off poor Bruce’s nose. Eventually you also managed to really fuck up his sense of time and direction too and doomed him to wander aimlessly, lost forever in the hallway between the bedroom and the kitchen…
And he can’t find women.
Loved panel 4 and will have to try it out if I’m ever mugged for my yo-yo.
To be fair (and hopefully not too pedantic) he did say “in my universe”, so I guess in the Bug universe, antennae is like hair? Also, I’m pretty sure we’ve seen strips where the bugs cover their ears and other actions to indicate that they have similar auditory and olfactory senses to other anthropomorphic, talking cartoon creatures (that is, just like humans).
I really didn’t mean to be dickish about that, but I do realize it sort of sounds that way. Sorry.
Bruce willis’ face reminds me of a Welding mask. Also, I hope he makes future appearances.
Nah, Spawn all the way!
btw great comic, Adam. Long time reader, first time posting
I’m going to use that last line in every situation I can from now on.
Bruce Willis is a wuss, however Clint Eastwood would demand a yo-yo in a most manly manner (plus no “missing antenna” issues)
Awesome how the theives in P2 look only mildly impressed and bug looks proud. It’s all in the eyes
I. Really. Like. That. Last. Panel.
I’ll have to remember that one… it might come in handy on a few occasions.
panel 3 ftw!
Willis Bug looks like Darth Vader in a Hawaiian shirt. Not saying I dislike it; just saying that’s what I first imagined. xD Awesome comic – I just finished the archive!
Last panel bug looks like a kid during the first 3 seconds of summer vacation. After that comes “I’m so booooooored.”
I totally want a teeshirt with Bug Bruce on it.
