    amusingly, the segway was merely a tech demo of a system meant (by its creator) to be used for making better wheelchairs. they would have two 18 inch wheels, able to climb stairs, “stand” at 3 feet (balance wheel on wheel) and move very repidly…
    the end result was a 35,000$ wheelchair (if mass produced)…

    wheelchairs are subsidized by the US government and the government wouldn’t approve such a ridiculous high price tag, so the project was scrapped.
