Sometimes I'll try to toss something relatively heavy into a trash can from 2 feet away, forget to compensate for the extra weight, and miss the can by several inches. Then I go home and cry myself to sleep.
I have a co-worker, the trash can is literally right under his hand, and it's a large can. And he drops it, and misses every time. My entire store has an issue throwing trash into a can from less than a foot away.
