I finally saw the Tom Hanks movie Angels & Demons, though I’m using the word “saw” liberally as I found it very difficult to pay attention to the film and my eyeballs were constantly looking for alternative forms of entertainment (such as staring out the window). For those of you haven’t seen this movie, allow me to offer a quick summary of the film’s plot and save you two boring hours:

Thanks to Phil (aka: Frumph) from ComicPress, I upgraded to ComicPress 2.9 (ComicPress, for the uninitiated, is a theme for WordPress that allows you to turn a blog into a webcomic). I’m very happy with the cleaner look of 2.9. I also changed the color of the blog area to better match the green background. Lemme know if you guys like the new color scheme.
So one thing that’s been bugging me for a while now is my rather sparse menu bar. I decided to add “expand menu bar” to my list of goals for March (the other goal is to start selling prints and original artwork).
One thing I’m planning on adding to the menu bar is an “about” tab. It’ll bring a drop-down menu of three other tabs: “about the cartoonist”, “about the strip” and “about the process”. I’m excited to create these new pages but just haven’t found the time to work on them. I’m in the process of creating a buffer so that oughta buy me some time. I’ll also be adding a “store” tab to the menu someday (once I figure out how to open an online store and have merchandise to sell).
Is there anything else you guys would like to see in the menu bar?
After visiting several other webcomics I decided that I couldn’t stand my gray background any longer. I tried to pick a somewhat muted color that doesn’t draw to much attention. I also put a little color in the blog area. Figure I needed something to make the black and white comic stand apart from everything else. Lemme know if you like it or hate it.
I also posted links to reviews of Bug in the left sidebar. I’ve been meaning to post them for a while but I just didn’t have time. If I’m not working on strips, I’m spending my time figuring out website design and how to open an online store – things I know absolutely nothing about.
My goal is to have a website I’m truly proud of by October (one year after I posted my first “Bug” comic). I know I said I was going to break down and just hire someone to design my site but I’ve decided that the site doesn’t look that bad and that I could get the site to look the way I wanted if I was patient enough to take baby steps. Plus I checked out the rates folks charge for website design – Yeesh!
I’m not a web designer.
But I have friends that helped me out in that department. One of those friends is my roommate, Kelly. I doubt this site would even exist if not for her help. I’ve depended on her countless times to make even the smallest change to my website. Now, I’d like to return the favor.
Kelly is participating in a race that’s raising money for the American Cancer Society called DetermiNation (you can find out about here). She needs to raise at least $500 to register in the race. I’d like to see if we can raise that much for her and more.
